Bhajan Pottery
Bright, handmade, sgraffito decorated pots.
I feel in love with clay early in life and went to Art College for it in the early 2000. Life took me on many twists and turns before I was finally able to be a potter. After 20 odd years of waiting, I now spend my days and nights happily potting in my very own studio, tucked into the Gatineau Hills.
My pots reflect the absolute joy I feel in being able to live my dream. I decorate with bright, joyful colours and bold images. I use slips and underglazes on leather hard pots and then carve into the surface so that the clay is exposed. This technique is called sgraffito. It adds an extra step in the making process, but also allows each pot vitality.
I make functional pieces and feel very honoured to have folks use my pots during their daily rituals. What could be more important than the ordinary moments in our lives?
