Hazy DayZ Dragonflies
Sue Gibb
Self-described ‘Imagineer’ and an ‘Accidental Artisan’, Sue designs, then individually transforms copper foil and wire into delicate Dragonflies, Butterflies and Florals. Without the aid of electricity, she can sit anywhere with her lap tray and tools, many being kitchen utensils, and create.
Lifesize copper critters in a wide selection of attachment styles; driftwood accent pieces, and shadow box displays; each a one-of-a-kind piece, incorporating her colourful, hydro-dipping* process.
Available fixtures: Bird-saving Window Suction Cup; Hanging Ornament; Decorative Hair Comb; Patio-door Screen Saver Pin; Alligator Clip; and 18” Gardener’s ‘Pop’ stake.
*Hydro-Dipping – Tub of water – in my case, a medium-size bread-baking pan, sprayed liberally with automotive aerosol paints. Copper wings are dipped through the swirling surface paint creating a unique design. Eight wings are coloured per dip, allowing for four critters of similar colours, though never the same. Impossible to replicate.
Sue has also begun teaching MOBILE Dragonfly-making Workshops. A fun get-together for you and your friends.
