Julie Verfaillie is the jewellery and lapidary artist behind Femme Mecanique Designs. Based in Montreal since late 2011, Julie draws inspiration from nature’s unique patterns and mystical beauty. Recently, she has expanded her creative horizon by incorporating hand-cut, free-formed stones into her jewellery designs. Although she has only been a lapidary artist for a few years, this new craft has significantly broadened her artistic scope. Each cabochon she crafts is designed to highlight the stone’s natural beauty, inspiring the creation of one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces. Julie’s work is both intuitive and creative, reflecting her background in visual arts and music through the shapes and rhythms of her designs. In January 2024, she launched a YouTube channel to share her techniques and insights with a wider audience. Julie also showcases her jewellery year-round in her studio boutique.
